Theresa Rhodes, age 79 of Colon, died Sunday Feb. 9, 2014 at the home of her daughter following a brief illness. She was born in Athens Township, MI on Nov. 11, 1934 the daughter of Lawrence and Lenora Bell (Neal) Perrin. She was married to Eric Rhodes on July 5, 1971 in Angola, Indiana. He died July 17, 2002. Theresa worked as a secretary for J.D. Blaine in Sturgis, the Martinson Agency in Centreville, the Riverview Agency in Mendon, and the last 17 years of her working life at the Loren Carlisle Agency in Three Rivers.

Theresa enjoyed big-band music, dancing, gardening, travelling, and spending time with her family. She will best be remembered for her overflowing goodness, generous spirit, and a true compassion for all who crossed her path.

Theresa is survived by daughter, Michelle Jorgensen of Colon; step-daughter, Cathy (T.J.) Kirk of Mendon; two grandchildren, Matthew and Rebecca Jorgensen; two step-grandchildren, Brandi (Keith) Monroe and Christy (Ryan) Hutton; and one step-great-grandchild, Tyler Monroe She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eric; a step-son, Eric Rhodes II; and two sisters, Alta Rose Schmidtendorf and Leatrice Wolf.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 pm on Wednesday at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon. Funeral services will be 11 am on Thursday Feb. 13, 2014 at the Colon Baptist Church with Pastor Scott Kroeger and David Farrell officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery near Colon.
