Steven H. Vogler, age 62 of Kentwood, Michigan died peacefully on Sunday, April 30, 2023 at his home following a long illness. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri on Aug. 1, 1960 the son of Francis Joseph Vogler and Marion (Taucher) Vogler. He graduated from Colon High School with the class of 1978. He served 7 years in the U.S. Army National Guard and received two appointments to Warrant Officer II. Steve has worked for several companies from sales to technical trainer. His most rewarding job was as a Certified Nurses' Assistant caring for brain-injured young men. He was an ambassador for the OLEY Foundation, specializing in I.V. nutrition, and was dependent on IV nutrition for the past nine years. He was able to fix anything and enjoyed working on cars, riding motorcycles, and working on computers.
Steve was married to Jeanine Hempel on July 12, 1985 at St. Edward Catholic Church in Mendon. She survives along with his mother, Marion Vogler of Vicksburg; siblings, Debra (William) Christiansen of Schoolcraft, Mark Vogler of Sturgis, Joseph (Ki) Vogler and John (Leslie) Vogler both of Mendon, Susan (Gregory) Sirna of Centreville, and Tony (Stacy) Vogler of Wolverine Lake, MI; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; several in-laws; and his special dog, Molly.
Special thanks go out to Maria Karimbakas, RDN, Intestinal Rehab Program Manager of Optum Infusion Services whose expert knowledge gave Steve a much-improved quality of life; Lloydette Zieman, RN, BS of Optum Infusion Services; Olivia Yost, MD; Trillium Palliative Services; and Faith Hospice.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has been conducted. A graveside memorial service will take place Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at 11 am in Blaine Cemetery in Gaines Township, Michigan with Rev. Ron Tuinstra of the Byron Center Bible Church officiating. It is suggested that memorial contributions be directed to the OLEY Foundation at oley.org , or to Faith Hospice of Grand Rapids at: faithhospicecare.org
