Obituary

Dr. Stan Rye of Atlanta, Georgia, passed away on December 1 st , 2018. Dr. Rye was born in Miami, Florida to Mr. and Mrs. A.D. Rye on February 21 st , 1947.

After serving in the Air Force in Vietnam, Dr. Rye received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Miami in 1974. In 1978, he graduated with honors from Emory University School of Dentistry, achieving a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. He then completed a residency program in prosthodontics at Emory University School of Postgraduate Dentistry.

Since 1980, Dr. Rye was in private practice and taught prosthodontics at the graduate level. He also provided Prosthodontic services at the Atlanta Clear Choice Centers since 2014. Professionally, he gained wide respect as an authority in treating complex reconstructive cases. Dr. Rye has been a recognized leader in the field of dental implants and has lectured nationally on the subject. He was a past president of the American College of Prosthodontists, Georgia Section, and an active member in many professional organizations, including the American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics, Academy of Osseointegration and the American Dental Association, to name a few.

Dr. Rye had many interests including advancements in dental technologies, all types of photography and music. Having survived previous medical challenges, he had a deep faith in God and appreciation for the blessings of each day. He was dedicated to providing the highest level of care possible for his patients who meant so much to him. He loved his family with all his heart and cherished every moment spent together.

Dr. Rye is preceded in death by his father, Atwell D. Rye, mother, Mabel Rye, and brother, Alan Rye. He is survived by his wife, Pam (Whittington)Rye; daughters, Jessica Rye Weston (Chris) and Chelsea Rye Brueder (Michael); grandchildren, Anna, Logan and Bennett Weston; brothers and sisters, Bernice Degen (Bill), Frances Ladner, Robert Murray Rye and Jon Mueller, and Stacey Lohr. Brother and sister in law, Dean and Jan Whittington.

Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon, Michigan is handling arrangements scheduled Saturday, December 15 th , with visitation at 1:00 p.m., service at 2:00 p.m. and graveside interment immediately after.
