Shirley Ann Harrison, age 90 of Mendon died Saturday, May 27, 2017. She was born in Detroit on May 30, 1926 the daughter of Howard and Blanche (Luke) Holmes. She graduated from Commerce High School in Detroit where she also trained in business courses. She was married to LeRoy Clark while he was serving in the military. To this union was born a daughter, Paulette, and they were later divorced. Shirley later married Everett Harrison, and they had six children, and were later divorced.
Shirley was a bookkeeper for many years with A & P Grocery Stores in the Detroit area, and later worked at several Detroit area restaurants. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and the LaSalle Club. She volunteered as a Cub Scout Leader and enjoyed small collectibles. Above all, she loved spending time with her family.
Shirley is survived by six children, Paulette (David) Peltan of Center Line, John (Rebecca) Harrison of Manchester, Joy (Dale) Fiorello of Rodney, William Harrison of Mendon, Gail (Joe) Smith of Three Rivers, and Donald (Tracy) Harrison of Shelby Township; 18 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Robert Holmes; and newborn, Carol Lynn.
The children of Shirley Harrison would like to welcome friends to the home of Joe & Gail Smith at 52351 Silver Street, Mendon, following a private interment on Saturday, August 26, 2017 from the hours of 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. A late afternoon lunch will be provided.
