Obituary

Sherley L. Satterlee, age 78 of Mendon, died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2020 at Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo. She was born in Rector, Arkansas on Dec. 17, 1941 the daughter of Earl S. and Annie May (Helderman) Jones. The family moved to Michigan when she was 2 years of age. Sherley graduated from Eaton Rapids High School with the class of 1960. She later attended cosmetology school and worked as a beautician. She was married to Brent G. Satterley on Oct. 6, 1961 and they continued to live in Eaton Rapids until 1970 when they moved to Mendon. While living here she worked as a Teller at Old Kent Bank, known later as Fifth-Third Bank in Three Rivers. In her spare time, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, music, reading, and time with her family.

Sherley is survived by her husband, Brent; three daughters, Deborah Satterlee of Three Rivers, Brenda Asher, and Lavonda (Donald) Heath both of Mendon; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Earl (Carol) Jones of Eaton Rapids; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Leon and William Jones; sisters Wanda Head, Roberta Eding, and Polly Horner; and son in law, Dallas Asher.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation has been conducted. A graveside memorial service will be held Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2020 at 1:00 pm in Mendon Cemetery with Rev. Carl Litchfield, Pastor of the Mendon United Methodist Church officiating. It is suggested that memorial contributions be directed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan, 222 N.
