Scott Allan DeYoung, age 52 of Vicksburg died Tuesday, Sep. 17, 2019 at Rose Arbor Hospice following a long illness. He was born in Kalamazoo on Dec. 10, 1966 the son of Frederick and Eleanor Mae (Copenhafer) DeYoung. He graduated from Vicksburg High School in 1984 and furthered his studies at Career Quest in Kalamazoo. He was a machinist by trade and worked at X-L Machine of Three Rivers for 10 years and briefly at Stryker Corporation until his health forced him to retire.

Scott had a life-long love of camping. He enjoyed yardwork, computer games, watching all sports, and fixing and repairing things. He especially looked forward to family reunions.

Scott is survived by his mother, Eleanor Cooley; his father, Frederick DeYoung; two children, Chelsea (Nickolas DeRyke) DeYoung of Schoolcraft and Michael (Melanie Morello) DeYoung of Grand Rapids; three granddaughters, Emarie, Nora, and Daisy; three brothers and two sisters. He was preceded in death by his step-father, Richard Cooley; sister, Kay Katie DeYoung; paternal grandparents, Harm and Arlene DeYoung; maternal grandparents, Westley and Louisa Copenhafer.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has been conducted, and a private family service will be held later. It is suggested that memorial contributions be directed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan, 222 N. Kalamazoo Mall, Suite 100, Kalamazoo, MI 49007.
