Ruth Elanor (Stafford-Moses) Sowers, age 86 of Kalamazoo died Monday Oct. 7, 2013 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. She was born in Kalamazoo on Dec. 30, 1926 the daughter of Ralph F. and Lillian Mae (Eitel) Stafford, Sr. She was a 1942 graduate of Roosevelt High School. Ruth had been employed by KVP Paper Company, Gibson Guitar, and Lamboy Label Company all of Kalamazoo. She was a member of the Oshtemo Grange, and the VFW Auxiliaries in Baldwin and Post #1527 in Kalamazoo. She was a former member of the West Mendon United Methodist Church and the Baldwin United Methodist Church, and most recently attended the West Oshtemo Baptist Church. In her spare time she enjoyed knitting and crocheting.

Ruth was married to Clifford LaVerne Sowers on May 25, 1962 in Parchment.
He survives along with 7 children, Steven Moses (Terri) of Otsego,Linda Starke (Ralph) of Dryden, Michael Moses of Mendon, Sharon Bierens (Glen) of Kalamazoo, Clifford D. Sowers of Paw Paw, Steven L. Sowers of Kalamazoo, and Richard L. Sowers (Mardi) of Coldwater;
19 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; twin brother, Ralph Stafford (Marsha) of Parchment;
brothers, Robert Doster (Sally) of Otsego and Malcom Stafford (Wendy) of Otsego;
sisters, Gail Ann Doster of Kalamazoo and Suzanne Wood of Hamilton; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Ralph Stafford; her mother, Lillian Doster;
a son, Dwight Moses; sister, Beverly Doxtater; and 3 brothers, Harry and Bernard Stafford, and William Doster; and 2 grandsons, Nathaniel Sowers and Nicholas Sowers.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 12 noon Saturday Oct. 12, 2013 at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon where funeral services will begin at 12 noon Saturday with Rev. John Hill officiating. Burial in the Scott/Doane Cemetery in Mendon Township. Memorials may be directed to Kalamazoo county Meals on Wheels program.
