Obituary

Ronald P. Morgan, age 90, passed away on December 14, 2024 at Edgewood Health and Rehab in Three Rivers after battling a lengthy illness.  He was born in Kalamazoo, MI on September 4, 1934 the son of Paul and Marie (Venderville) Morgan.  Ronald attended Portage High School and was part of the 1954 graduating class.  After graduation he would enlist in the United States Army and proudly serve his country for 3 years.  On September 13, 1958 he would marry Phyllis McCale in Three Rivers, MI.  In 1993, Phyllis would precede him in death.  A few years later, Ronald would find happiness again with Chere Thompson, who preceded him in passing in 2005.  In Ronalds younger days he was a boxer and would often tell stories of his bouts toward the Golden Glove.  He held many jobs during his time, working at Gibson Guitar, Kalamazoo Stationers, Continental Can, and Dayco Rubber Company.  The job he was most proud of was working with G and G Ambulance; he took great pride in helping others in need and was ecstatic anytime he helped a mother bring a child into this world.  Ronald was involved with 4-H, helping with Leathercraft, First Aid, and was a Mendon Green Clover Leader.  He was a jack of all trades and a master at most; lending a helping hand with his daughter's horses and grandchildren's homes.  Ronald wasn't all business however, he also enjoyed dancing with his wife Phyllis at the Leonidas Dance Hall listening to Rem Wall; and line dancing with his companion Chere while he traveled during the winter months.  He loved helping people and making them smile, especially his loving grandchildren.

\Ronald is survived by his two daughters; Gail (Larry) Huff and Brenda (Galen) Arnett; seven grandchildren; Tracy (Daron) Patnoude, Kristina (Greg and Jon) Morgan, Jennifer Klein, Brandon (Tammie) Klein, William Arnett, Tricia (Riley) Huff, and Nic Huff; ten great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters; Gerri Venechuk and Susan Okvath.  He was preceded in death by his parents; Paul and Marie Morgan; two sisters; Valerie May and Sally Rittershofer; brother; Michael Morgan; his companion; Chere Thompson; and his wife; Phyllis Morgan.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation is being conducted.  A graveside service with military honors will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at Mendon Cemetery at 11am; followed by a Celebration of Life at the Mendon United Methodist Church (320 W Main Street, Mendon, MI 49072) at 12 Noon with Pastor Carl Litchfield officiating; luncheon to follow.  Memories and condolences may be expressed to Ronald's family at eickhofffuneralhome.com
