Obituary

Robert Maurice Vroegindewey, age 99, of Kalamazoo died Tuesday, June 28, 2022.  He was born in Kalamazoo on Nov. 13, 1922 the son of John H. and Florence M. (Soudriette) Vroegindewey, and was a lifetime resident of southwest Michigan.  He was a graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School; served as a Lt. J.G. in the U.S. Navy during WWII; and earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Western Michigan College of Education in 1949.  He worked briefly at the W.T. Grant Company. Best known as "Bob the Builder", established in 1950, he built many residential homes throughout southwest Michigan. He was a member and Deacon at the First Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School.

He is survived by his daughter, Linda (Larry) Czapla of Kalamazoo. He was preceded in death by his parents; and by his son, Mark Vroegindewey in 2014.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has been conducted.  A military interment will take place at Ft. Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at 10:30 am.  Memories and condolences may be shared at www.eickhofffuneralhome.com
