Robert Louis Schroeder, age 71 of Vicksburg died Sunday Oct. 27, 2013 at his home following a long illness. He was born in Kalamazoo on Jan. 15, 1942 the son of Orville B. and Margaret A. (Willis) Schroeder and was a lifetime resident of the Kalamazoo area. He retired from United Parcel Service after serving 31 years as a package delivery driver. Bob was a Civil War buff, who enjoyed music, sailing, and playing golf. He was honored by the Vicksburg Historical Society for his donation of the Strong one-room schoolhouse.
Robert is survived by his wife, Kathryn Marie Schroeder of Vicksburg; three sons, Jeff (Rebecca) Schroeder of White Pigeon, Troy (Michelle) Schroeder of Constantine, and Brett Schroeder of Vicksburg; three grandchildren, Josh (Courtney)Schroeder, Jacob Schroeder, and Brooke (Mark) Warren; two great grandchildren, Brock and Emma; four step children, Tammy (Peter) VanAlstyne of Paw Paw, Teena (Don) Cartrette of Manasses, VA, Tonya (Richard) Allen of Sturgis, and Trisha (Jason) Sellers of Kalamazoo; ten step grandchildren, Mandi and Brady Ruselink, Nicole Burke, Zackery, Branden, and Logen Cartrette, Megan Allen, Drake and Ellie Sellers, and Paxton VanAlstyne; a brother, Frederick L. Schroeder of Holland; a sister, Marilyn Jean Vleugel of Kalamazoo ; and his beloved pets, Mo, Brie, and Teddy. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Orville.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Wednesday Oct. 30, 2013 at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon with Rev. Robert Bowersox, Pastor of the Fish Lake Bible Church officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mendon Cemetery.
