Richard G. Sylvester, age 86 of Mendon, died Sunday, April 16, 2023 at Heartland Healthcare Center in Three Rivers.  He was born Jackson County, Michigan on Aug. 22, 1936 the son of Peter and Anna (Houseman) Sylvester.  He was married to Willnetta "Dolly" Harrison on Oct. 9, 1954 in Auburn, Indiana. They moved to Mendon in 1971 coming from Tompkins Center, Michigan.  Richard was employed at Wells Index for many years, and retired from Burr Oak Tool and Gauge. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing golf, mushroom hunting, working in his vegetable garden, bar-b-ques with family, and a good pot of bean soup.

Richard is survived by five children, Judy (Frank) Fries and Lynn (Rick) Brown both of Constantine, Richard (Joyce) Sylvester, Jr. and Sharon Moore both of Mendon, and Sandy (Phil) Albain of Schoolcraft; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Winkie Heisler of Alma.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dolly in 2022; son in law, Roger Moore; granddaughter, Casey Moore; great-grandson, Jameson Moore; and by seven brothers and sisters.
