Russell “David” Huff, age 93 of Three Rivers, MI passed away on October 12, 2026 at Birch Meadows AFC in Three Rivers, MI. He was born in Sherwood, MI on September 24, 1933 the son of Lee David and Edna (Thrams) Huff. David attended Mendon Community Schools and was part of the 1952 graduating class. On July 6, 1958 David would marry the love of his life, Shirley Miller, at her parent’s home in Three Rivers, MI. For over 40 years, he worked with the Michigan Highway Department.
Woodworking and making toys was a passion for David, a skill he loved doing most when he was making toys for his grandchildren. In his younger years, he would travel up north to go hunting with the guys, Dave Collins and Speed Yeomans to name a couple (these stories cannot be shared to the public). That same group of men also enjoyed their yearly hog cutting, which was an all-weekend affair. David was a member of the Three Rivers Shrine Club, Three Rivers Elks Club, and Mendon Masons for over 50 years; even serving as President for the Mendon Masons for a period of time. David was a part owner of the M and H Sporting Goods store in Mendon and never missed a Mendon Hornet football game; even traveling to Wisconsin via bus to watch the Hornets. Unbeknownst to his parents, he drove the #44 car at Galesburg, Mottville, and Butler speedways under the name “Little Dave”; that secret was short-lived. David loved his little town of Mendon, he cherished the friendships he made in Three Rivers, he enjoyed his community at Klines Resort, but above all else, he loved his family more than anything.
David is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Shirley Huff; his son, David “Sam” Huff; his grandchildren, Andrew (Melissa) Huff and Amanda (Zach) Radtke; his great-grandchildren, Kylie, Alexa, and Kelsie Huff, and Emilia, Evan, and Ezra Radtke; his two sisters, Jeannine Hire and Leanell (Tom) Schwartz; sister-in-law, Janet Huff; and many extended families and friends. He was preceded in passing by his parents, Lee and Edna Huff; siblings, Merlin Huff, Marlin Huff, Charlene (Wayne) Timm, brother-in-law Stephen Hire; and daughter-in- law, Lora Huff.
In keeping with David’s wishes, cremation is being conducted. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 16, 2026 at Mendon United Methodist Church (320 W Main St, Mendon, MI 49072) from 10am until 11am, with funeral services beginning at 11am with Pastor Carl Litchfield officiating. A private burial will take place later at Mendon Cemetery. It is suggested that donations made in David’s honor be directed to either Mendon United Methodist Church or Shriners Hospital for Children.
