Michael T. Hughes, age 74 of Leonidas, died Sunday Aug. 13, 2017 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. He was born in Constantine, MI on Sep. 12, 1942 the son of the late Tommee and Margaret (Hoopingarner) Hughes. He attended Colon Schools while living in Leonidas, resided in Constantine for 30 years, and returned to Leonidas 4 years ago. He was married to Norma Jean Rexford on June 10, 1962 in Mendon. Michael engaged in general farming, and had worked at Essex Wire Co. in Three Rivers. He had a fascination with airplanes, and would frequently visit local airports to watch take offs and landings.

Michael is survived by two daughters, Nancy Doub of Leonidas and Cathy Hart of Pipe Creek, Texas; five grandchildren, Kevin Hughes, Mary Shackleton, Casey Turner, Tyler Hart, and Ryan Hart; two sisters, Sandra (Eugene) Monroe and Sally Mase; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Norma Jean.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, 2017 at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon. Funeral services will begin at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Rev. David Farrell officiating. Burial will be in Leonidas Cemetery.
