Margaret Schmidt Faas, age 89 of Plainfield, Illinois died Monday Dec. 11, 2017 in St. Charles following a long illness. She was born on Nov. 19, 1928 the third child of Erich and Klara (Gedeon) Schmidt, and was a lifetime resident of the Chicago area. She was married to Werner Emil Faas in Chicago on April 5, 1952. They enjoyed many visits to family in Mendon, travelled extensively in the US, Mexico, Europe, and wintered at their condo in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.

Her husband, Werner passed away on Feb. 17, 2015. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Gustav Schmidt and Karl Schmidt; and younger sister, Irmgard Schmidt.

Margaret is survived by a sister, Betty (Richard) Clark of St. Charles, Illinois; sister in law, Barbara Schmidt of Mendon; and by two nephews, John Schmidt of Dallas, TX and Werner Schmidt of Ft. Wayne, IN; cousin, Ruth (Bill) Babbit of San Diego, CA; and numerous relatives in Germany.

A funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, Dec. 18, 2017 at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon with Rev. David Grimm, Pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Churches in Colon and Centreville officiating. Burial will be in Mendon Cemetery.
