Obituary

Marceline "Bette" Ashby, age 97 of Three Rivers died Wednesday Nov. 4, 2015 at Three Rivers Health. She was born in Detroit on Oct. 27, 1918 the daughter of George P. and Jean (Deeg) Steil. She was a graduate of St. Bernard Catholic School in Detroit. Marceline was married to John F. "Jack" Ashby in Detroit on July 25, 1942. While Jack was serving in the Marine Corps she worked at Packard Motor Car Company, occasionally chauffeuring dignitaries to and from the plant. Jack and Bette resided all across the country before retiring to Three Rivers in 1988. She was a member of the Club of Little Gardens, the Three Rivers Health Auxiliary, and attended St. Edward Catholic Church in Mendon.

Marceline is survived by a daughter, Annette Ashby of Three Rivers; two granddaughters, Mary Elizabeth Jarrad of Brooklyn, NY and Anne Catherine (Ryan Thomas) Jarrad of Cleveland, OH; two great-grandchildren, Jack Henry Thomas and Emerson Thomas. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack in 2012; a sister, Dorothy Storz; and a brother, George H. Steil.

Cremation has been conducted. A memorial mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Saturday, November 21, 2015 at St. Edward Catholic Church in Mendon where the family will receive friends for one hour prior to services. Interment will be in St. Edward Catholic Cemetery followed by a reception in the lower level of the church. Memorials are suggested to either Three Rivers Health Rehab, or to St. Edward Catholic Church. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.eickhofffuneralhome.com
