Obituary

Malcom M. Alderson went to his eternal home in heaven with his Savior October 23, 2020 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He was born February 16, 1936 in Farmers, Kentucky the son of Bert and Bernice (Green) Alderson. Malcom co-owned and operated Alderson and Goodman Lumber Company in Mendon for almost 30 years. His work was his passion and he was a well-respected member of the community. He enjoyed cutting timber, gardening, hunting, and yearly vacations to Myrtle Beach and Gatlinburg, Tennessee. He was a compassionate and caring husband and devoted father sharing dinner with his only daughter every Friday night for many years. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church.

He was united in marriage to Betty June Adkins on August 4, 1956. She survives along with his daughter, Bernice (Adam) Lambert. Also surviving are siblings Ray (Dale) Alderson of Woodleaf, NC, Roma Coleman of St. Louis, MO, Albert (Dotty) Alderson of Morehead, KY, Gail (Bob) Lanham of Nicholasville, KY. He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Carroll Alderson, Naomi Ward, and Lois Goins.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Monday at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon. Funeral services will be 1 pm Tuesday at Temple Baptist Church, 55437 Wilbur Road, Three Rivers, MI 49093 with Rev. Josh Wiggins officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Mendon Cemetery. It is suggested that memorial donations be directed to Rose Arbor Hospice, 5473 Croyden Ave., Kalamazoo, MI 49009.
