Lois Faye Foster, age 78 of Athens and formerly of Portage, died Monday, Nov. 12, 2018 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. She was born in Reed City, MI on Aug. 31, 1940 the daughter of the late Rev. Albert Edwin and Eleanor Lavina (Foster-McDougal) McFarland. Lois was a homemaker who also worked at Meijer, a local day-care center, and as a waitress at several area cafes. She was an Avon Representative for over 30 years and a member of the Kalamazoo Oratorical Society. Known as the lady with the amazing smile, Lois loved travelling to car shows with her '70 CUDA. She was a member of the Misfits Car Club, the Western Michigan Mopar Club, and looked forward to cruising with the wonderful people in the annual Old 27 Car Cruise from Coldwater to Cheboygan. She attended the Factoryville Bible Church in Athens where she was a member of the church choir.
Lois was married to her husband, Dennis R. Foster on July 26, 1997 at the Gilmore Car Museum. Dennis survives along with a son, Kevin (Terry) Ferweda of Louisville, TN; a daughter, Kim (Shawn) Lambert of Battle Creek; step-children, Troy (Amy) Foster of Athens and Christian (Jennifer) Foster of Battle Creek; five grandchildren, Kevin Lee (Brittany) Ferweda, Sarah (Jordan) Bureman, C.J. Foster, Laecey Foster, and Elijah Foster; four great-grandchildren, ElizabethAnn, Hannah, and Kevin Liam Ferweda and Konner Bureman; seven siblings, Phyllis Richards, Dallas (Diane) McFarland, Delores (Richard) Barriger, Avis (Jerry) Cesal, Curtis McFarland, Janice (Archie) Wickham, and Cletus (Kristi) McFarland; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Katherine Amanda Ferweda.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 pm Friday, Nov. 16, 2018 at the Factoryville Bible Church, 33650 Factoryville Rd., Athens, MI 49011. Funeral services will be 11 am Saturday at the church with Pastor Fred Goebert officiating. Interment will take place 10:00 a.m. Monday, Nov. 19, 2018 at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan. It is suggested that memorials be directed to the Factoryville Bible Church, or the Factoryville Christian School. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.eickhofffuneralhome.com
