Obituary

Lee Monroe, age 81 of Mendon, passed away at his home on November 14, 2021.  Lee was born in Detroit, MI on October 15, 1940 the son of Frieda Grieve-Barton.  On July 26, 1962 Lee married Ursula Krick in Germany, while he was active member of the United States Army.  After the army, Lee and Ursula moved to Mendon where they lived and raised their family.  For many years, Lee worked at the Simpson-Lee Paper Co in Vicksburg, MI.  After retirement, he decided to work part time at Wal-Mart.  Lee was a simple man who enjoyed fishing and his good buddy, his dog, Ren.

Lee is survived by two daughters; Evy Schaffer and Yvonne Briggs, daughter in-law Amy Monroe, 11 grandchildren; Tricia Huff, Nicholas Huff, Nicole Peterson, Michael Briggs, Richard Speece, Lara Speece, Dennis Monroe, Peter Monroe, Kirsten Pritchard, Brittany Clay, and Megann Monroe, and 11 great-grandchildren.  Lee was preceded in death by his mother, his wife Ursula, and his son Peter.

In keeping with family wishes, a cremation has been conducted.  A memorial service at Fort Custer National Cemetery will be scheduled at a later date.  It suggested that contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at stjude.org.  Memories and condolences may be made to the family at eickhofffuneralhome.com
