Lee Douglas Manson, Sr., age 52 of Burr Oak, died Friday Dec. 30, 2011 at his home. He was born in Hazel Crest, IL on Dec. 14, 1959 the son of Emery Lee and Mary Lou (Dekker) Manson. At the age of 14 Lee's family moved to the Fisher Lake area where he attended Mendon Schools, and later Glen Oaks Community College. Lee was as a metal worker at Syndicate Systems in Middlebury, IN for several years. His hobbies included golf, photography, and listening to music.
Lee was married to Gwen Coleman on Sep. 25, 2010 in Three Rivers. She survives along with 4 children, Tracy (Daron) Patnoude of Mendon, Lee (Laurie) Manson, Jr. of Port Huron, Steven Manson of Auburn, IN, and Austin Manson of Sturgis; 2 step-daughters, Amanda (Tim) Abbott of Centreville and Monica (Ben) Pant of Sturgis; 15 grandchildren; a brother, Roger Graham of Jeffersonville, PA; and Aunt & Uncle, Tom and Evelyn Dekker of Chicago Ridge, IL. He was preceded in death by his father, Emery Manson; his mother, Mary Lou Fisher; and a sister, Vicky Manson.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday Jan. 4, 2012 at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon. Funeral services will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev. Mike Wicks, Pastor of the Sturgis Presbyterian Church officiating. Cremation will follow services and a private interment of ashes will take place in Mendon Cemetery.
