Obituary

Larry Dale Henry, age 80 of Mendon, MI passed away unexpectedly on September 29, 2026 at Beacon Kalamazoo Hospital. He was born in Vicksburg, MI on September 30, 1945 the son of Ralph and Arlene (Sherburn) Henry. Larry attended school in Climax and was part of the 1963 graduating class. He would go into the work force, working at Research Molding, Continental Can, and end up retiring at Armstrongs in Three Rivers. On June 30, 1974 he would marry the love of his life, Karen Cornwall, in Athens, MI; the two newlyweds would move into a home, and live a life full of happiness on the same property, for 53 years.

Larry was a master-tinkerer; always working on random projects on the property, and with 20 acres, projects are easy to find. He enjoyed being outdoors, mowing, chasing the leaves, trimming bushes, and creating trails for his side-by-side. Larry and Karen would often take walks through those trails, with their favorite weenie dog sidekick, Sadie Sue. Larry through the years, had over 80 classic cars in his possession, ranging from Model A’s to GTO’s. He rarely drove them around town but loved to tinker and constantly work on them year round, and would enjoy a car show every now and then. Larry had an infatuation with spray paint and would find any odd jobs possible that could use a fresh coat. He had a sweet tooth, especially for chocolate ice cream and Karen’s pecan pie. His entire life, Larry had a strong work ethic, a trait he learned early on in his life, milking cows at 4am while living at home. Larry had an enormous heart for others, was very supportive of those around him, and was a family-oriented man. He didn’t feel the need to travel, his slice of heaven was his 20 acres. Wonderful property, a dream Man Cave barn, classic cars, hard work ethic, and a loving family. That’s all every man dreams of, and Larry lived that dream to its fullest.

Larry is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Karen Henry; his son, Jason (Dawn) Henry; two step-children; Scott (Kelly) Cline, and Terry Sue Cline (Brad Post); two grandchildren; Scotty and Brittany; two siblings; Susan (Dawn) Henry and Ralph “Corky” (Debbie) Henry; and many nieces, nephews, and extended families. He was preceded in passing by his parents, Ralph and Arlene Henry; his sister, Linda Commissaris; and his son, John Patrick Henry.

In keeping with Larry’s wishes, cremation is taking place. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. Condolences and memories may be expressed to his family at eickhofffuneralhome.com
