Kenneth Douglas Seiler, age 67 of Kalamazoo died unexpectedly at his home on May 29, 2013. Ken was born in Sturgis on Jan. 11, 1946 the son of Richard and Julia (Shewchuk) Seiler and was a lifetime resident of Southwest Michigan. He was a 1964 graduate of Mendon High School and earned his Bachelors and Masters degrees in education at Western Michigan University. Ken was a schoolteacher at Colon Elementary School for 28 years and served as Past President of the Colon Education Association. He enjoyed watching sports and was a San Francisco Forty-niners fan.

Ken is survived by his mother, Julia Seiler of Sturgis; 2 daughters, Jennifer Bruder of Bellows Falls, VT and Gwendolyn Mills of Hillsboro, NJ; four grandsons, Joshua and Connor Bruder and Gavin and Benjamin Mills; a brother Jerry (Beth) Seiler of Sturgis; and an aunt, Olga Shewchuk of Leonidas. He was preceded in death by his father, Dick Seiler in 1994; a brother, Donald Seiler in 1999; and his former wife, Jan (Baker) Seiler in 2009.

Cremation has been conducted. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday June 24, 2013 at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon with David Farrell officiating. The family will receive frineds for one hour prior to services. It is suggested that memorials be directed to either the Mendon Public Library, or to a charity or church of one's choice.
