Kathleen Marie Fotis, age 66, of Kalamazoo, died at home on Monday, Jan. 13, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Lansing, MI on Dec. 9, 1953 the daughter of the late Francis L. and Rosemary (Bauman) Belen. She graduated from Lansing Catholic High School and from Kalamazoo Valley Community College, and has been a resident of Kalamazoo the past 35 years. Kathleen was a case-worker for the State of Michigan. A generous and caring person, she frequently put together care packages to deliver to the homeless in the Kalamazoo area. She loved going to the beach, and spending time at the family cabin up north.

Kathleen is survived by four children, Santos (Katie) Fotis, Erika Fotis both of Kalamazoo, Kelli Fotis of Fulton, and Ken (Yvette) Fotis of Parchment; nine grandchildren, Dominic, Anthony, and Jasmine Fotis, Gabriel Kelly, Sonora Smelker, Naomi, Aaliyah, Ken, Jr., and Xavier Fotis; seven siblings, L. Thane (Patt) Belen of Grand Ledge, Patricia Shipley of Kalamazoo, Lawrence (Rhonda) Belen of Mattawan, Robert (Kathy) Belen of El Paso, TX, Mary (Steve) Fox of Mattawan, John Belen of North Carolina, and Theresa (Brian) Myrick of Lansing; several nieces and nephews.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation has been conducted. A memorial gathering and celebration of Kathy's life will take place at 12 noon Sunday, Jan. 26, 2020 at the Fountains Banquet Center, 535 S. Riverview Drive, Parchment, MI 49002. Assistance was provided by the Eickhoff Funeral Home of Mendon.
