John Paul Wise, age 59 of Sturgis died Friday Nov. 18, 2016 at his home following a brief illness. He was born in Sturgis on Sep. 22, 1957 the son of the late Olley Ray and Barbara Jeane (Johnson) Wise, Jr. He graduated from Charlotte High School in 1975 and moved to Mendon with his family later that year. John was employed as a cook at several area nursing homes including Fairview in Centreville and most recently Thurston Woods in Sturgis. He also enjoyed cooking for his family, camping, and caring for his pets.

John is survived by two brothers, Olley R. "Cork" Wise (Bobbie) of Constantine and Richard Wise (Barb) of Centreville; a sister Debbie Wise (Randy Hemenway) of Three Rivers; five nieces and nephews; seven great-nieces and nephews; an uncle, Raymond Wise (Kay) of Moorepark; and several cousins.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Monday at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Tuesday Nov. 22, 2016 at the funeral home with Rev. Sandy Miller, Pastor of the Nottawa United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Mendon Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to a charity of one's choice.
