John Alan Mack, age 60 of Athens died Friday Sep. 23, 2016 at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. He was born in Battle Creek, MI on Sep. 26, 1955 the son of Robert and Helen (Shippy) Mack. He attended St. Phillip Catholic School and graduated from Battle Creek Central High School. John was a retired postal carrier and later a supervisor for post offices in the Kalamazoo and Battle Creek area. He was a former youth sports and board member and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening in his spare time.
John was married to Carol (Klein) on Oct. 12, 1985 in St. Edward Catholic Church in Mendon. She survives along with two children, Danielle Mack of Schaumburg, IL, and Jacob (Anna) Mack of Battle Creek, MI; a grandson, Robert Alan Mack; four sisters, Linda (Gerry) Graff of Albuquerque, NM, Laura Mack of Battle Creek, Karen (Richard) Perkins of Grand Blanc, and Sally (Randy) Chapin of Pennfield, MI; a sister in law, Paula Mack; many nieces, nephews, and in laws. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Skippy Mack; and a brother, Robert Mack.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Tuesday at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon, and where the Rosary will be recited at 7:30 PM. The funeral mass will be 11 AM Wednesday Sep. 28, 2016 at St. Edward Catholic Church in Mendon with Msgr. Thomas Martin officiating. Burial will be in St. Edward Catholic Cemetery.
