Joan Ruth Brundige, age 87, died Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at her son's home in Richland where she had resided the past 2 months. She was born in Mendon on September 21, 1933 the daughter of Carl and Florence Gay (White) Heiney and was a lifetime resident of Mendon. She graduated from Mendon High School with the class of 1951, then worked at the General Telephone office. Joan was married to Donald R. Brundige on February 9, 1957 in Mendon. She later worked at the Haas Corporation in Mendon before becoming the Secretary at Mendon High School. For many years she was a member of the Mendon Village Council and was the Village Treasurer. Joan enjoyed traveling with her family and the Mendon Rovers camping club. She spent several winters in Gulf Shores, Alabama and Englewood, Florida. She enjoyed a good book, and looked forward to her weekly luncheons and shopping with her friends.

Joan is survived by three children, Carlene (Kim) Heimrich of Port Charlotte, Florida, Steven (Paula) Brundige of Richland, and Angie (Jeff) Schroeder of Portage; eleven grandchildren, Katelyn (James) Ingrahm of Dallas, Texas, Anna (Kyle) Zatzke of Otsego, Christopher Heimrich of Ft. Worth, Texas, Jordan Heimrich of Tampa, Florida, Mattie (Caleb) Long of LaGrange, Indiana, Jonah Kirby and Molly Kirby both of Portage; Nicolette (Marcus) Myers, Danette Schroeder, Jarrette Schroeder, and Juliette Schroeder; two great-grandchildren, Levi Zatzke and Bryson Myers. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Don in 1978; and by two sisters, Frances Truckenmiller and Jane Haas.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation has been conducted. A private family memorial service will be 1:00 pm Monday, December 28, 2020 at the Eickhoff Funeral Home with Rev. Lisa Batten officiating.
