Obituary

Jeffrey Steven Taylor, age 59, of Charlotte NC, passed unexpectedly on July 19, 2025. The family is deeply saddened and shocked by his sudden death. He was born in Jackson, Michigan where he learned to love the great outdoors hunting and hiking around his family’s property. After graduating from Michigan State University, he moved to Washington D.C. to work for the United States Secret Service.

Jeff met his future wife, Jennifer Reider while counseling students for a backpack club called “Jacktown Packers.” Together and with family they backpacked many mountains and canyons in the Western US. Jeff and Jenny were married in Jackson MI in November 1992.

After 6 years in Washington, Jeff, his wife Jenny, and their daughter Samantha moved to Charlotte NC, to begin working for the Charlotte Police Department. Soon after moving Benjamin arrived and the family was complete. Jeff was kind, patient, funny, loyal, responsible and true. He loved hiking, biking, fishing and hunting. But most of all he loved his family. His absence will be forever felt by all. Jeffrey leaves behind his loving wife Jenny of 33 years; loving children, Samantha and Benjamin; his father and mother Joe and Betty Taylor; his siblings and their spouses, Lynda Taylor, Angie (Taylor) and Chad Ruger, and Randy and Carolyn Taylor; and on Jenny’s side; Maude and Denny Phillips, Sarah and Paul Lindsay, Sam Rieder and the family’s dear friend Janie Wooten. His memory lives on with his nieces and nephews; Josh, Brad and Whitney; and on his wife’s side; Emma, Max, Sam, Melina, Nick, Elizabeth, Claire, Hannah and Chin Lee. Jeff’s legacy will carry on forever reminding us that we control our attitudes and can choose to live a life of meaningful acts of love and service as Christ modeled for us.

A celebration of life was held for Jeffrey, August 1, 2025, at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 1623 Carmel Rd., Charlotte NC.

Interment of Jeffrey’s remains will be Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 11:00 am, at the Mendon Township Cemetery, Mendon MI.
