Jeanette Mae Ruggles, age 82 of Portage, died Saturday, June 8, 2019 at rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo following a long illness. She was born in Constantine, MI on July 22, 1936 the daughter of Orren C. and Helen M. (Rumsey) Wagner. She graduated from Centreville High School and later from the Mercy School of Nursing in Detroit. Jeanette retired as the Director of Nursing for the Kalamazoo County Health Department. She was married to Kenneth G. Ruggles in September of 1957. Mr. Ruggles died in 2010.

Jeanette is survived by four children, Pam (Donald Bohan) Wright, Brad Ruggles, Gayle (Timothy) Pressley, and Bruce (Wendi) Ruggles all of Portage; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sharon (Skip) Batten and Pat Alleshouse of Mendon; a brother, Doug (Karen) Wagner of Mendon; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ken; sister, Nancy Cook; son in law, Joel Wright; and brother in law, David Alleshouse.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation has been conducted. A memorial service will be held 1:00 pm Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
