Jean Esther Stephenson, age 95 of Mendon died Sunday, Aug. 29, 2021 at Bowman Place in Three Rivers where she had resided the past two years. She was born in Three Rivers, Michigan on May 18, 1926 the daughter of Glenn G. and Alma O. (Richmond) Baldwin. Jean graduated from Three Rivers High School with the class of 1942 and later attended the Borgess School of Nursing. She was married to Leslie A. Stephenson on March 5, 1950 at her parent's farm in Park Township. Together they operated a farm near Mendon until Leslie's passing in 2000.
Jean was a lifetime member of the Center Park United Methodist Church, and sang in the church choir. She was a former member of the Order of Eastern Star, was a 4-H leader, and sang in the Mendon Kiwanis Showboat. She and her husband enjoyed traveling across the United States and Canada.
Jean is survived by three children, Cheryl (Bill) Wallace of LaPorte, Indiana, Ron (Stephanie) Stephenson of Three Rivers, and Mark Stephenson of Mendon; seven grandchildren, Rebekah (Nate) Foster, Liz Chapman, Eric (Julie) Stephenson, Sarah (Chris) McCall, Tamara (David) Hill, Christina (Keith) Doucette, and Andrea (Aaron) Mason; eight great-grandchildren, Katy, Josie, Sawyer, Landon, Barrette, Colton, Boaz, and Jeriah. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leslie; grandson, Brent Stephenson; two brothers, L. Allan Baldwin and Lynn Baldwin; and by two sisters, Lila Dreisbach and Marjorie Frakes.
The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 2 pm on Sunday, September 12, 2021 at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon. Funeral services will begin at 2 pm at the funeral home with Rev. Derl Keefer, Pastor of the Center Park United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Mendon Cemetery. It is suggested that memorial donations be directed to either Ronald MacDonald House at: www.rmhwesternmichigan.org , or to Shriner's Hospitals at: www.lovetotherescue.org.
