Homer Francis McKindley, Jr., age 91, formerly of Mendon and Marcellus, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2018 in Waukesha, WI where he had resided the past three years. He was born in Akron, Ohio on Nov. 14, 1926 the son of Homer F. McKindley and Lucile Marjoria (Acker) McKindley. Homer graduated from Mendon High School in 1944, and then joined the US Navy, serving in the Pacific Theater during WWII. He graduated from Western Michigan University in 1951 with a Bachelor's Degree in business. Homer was married to Mary Jo Mellus on April 20, 1952 in Vicksburg. Homer was a salesman for Corn Products Sales for many years. They moved to Big Fish Lake near Marcellus in 1977 coming from Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin. Homer loved lake life, boating and fishing. He was a member of Phi Mu Alpha Music Fraternity at WMU and a member of the Paw Paw American Legion Post #68.

Homer is survived by a daughter, Nancy (Steven) Bako of Grafton, WI; a son, Mark (Nancy) McKindley of Waukesha, WI; four grandchildren, Megan (Chris) Bower, Madeline (Thomas) Giljohann, Thomas (Jill) McKindley, Laura Breimon, and Jenny Azinger; nine great-grandchildren, Mark, Ben, and Cora Bower, Nick and Kate Breimon, Calvin and Gus Azinger, Louis Giljohann and Emma Wilson; a brother, Jack McKindley of Mecosta Lake, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Jo in 2009; brother, Robert McKindley; sister, Janice (McKindley-Osgood) Custard; and a granddaughter, Jamie McKindley.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2018 at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon. Military interment will take place in Vicksburg Cemetery.
