Obituary

Herbert Edward Potter, age 90 of Vicksburg died Tuesday Jan. 22, 2013 at Riverview Manor in Three Rivers. He was born in Kingsley, MI on March 11, 1922 the son of Edward and Carrie (Olson) Potter. The family lived in several communities in Michigan before moving to Vicksburg where he met and married June A. Lash on Aug. 9, 1941. Herb engaged in general farming in his younger days, and it was then that he developed his preference for John Deere tractors. He was also a truck driver for the Daggett Company for 25 years, retiring in 1984. In his spare time he enjoyed the outdoors by fishing and camping. He especially enjoyed working in his woodshop.

Herbert is survived by his wife of 71 years, June Potter of Vicksburg; 3 daughters, Judy (Dutch) Bruystens of Vicksburg, Sue (Clifford) Sabin of Vicksburg, and Joyce (Joe) Sperano of Gardiner, MT; 10 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Madeline Fish of Fife Lake. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Marie Eberstein.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday Jan. 26, 2013 at the Chapman Memorial Church of the Nazarene with Herb's nephew, Mike Eberstein officiating. Burial will be in McKain Cemetery followed by fellowship back at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Riverview Manor Activities Department, or to the Alzheimer's Association.
