Obituary

Gregory Diffendal, age 73 of Leonidas, MI passed away at his home on March 20, 2025 after his hard-fought battle with cancer.  He was born on December 26, 1951 in Niles, MI the son of Francis and Helen (Imm) Diffendal.  On June 18, 1977 Greg would marry the love of his life, Debra MacDonald at the Leonidas Methodist Church.  Greg was a simple man who enjoyed the simple things in life.  He loved to go fishing and would often pull over on any road with water next to it and catch something; he just knew when the fish were biting.  Greg loved to go ice fishing with his good buddy David Swinehart over at Long Lake.  He was an avid reader, reading anything he could, ranging from Times Magazine to his Bible.  Greg was a former deacon at the Leonidas Methodist Church and had an unshakable faith in God.  He would be heard cheering on his teams from Detroit, especially the Lions and Tigers; and his Wolverines.  Greg loved to ride his Harley and even took a trip to Sturgis, South Dakota.  He loved coaching his daughter throughout her high school years and instilled his wisdom which is still being followed to this day.  Most importantly, Greg loved his family, especially his grandchildren and his loving wife, Debra.

Greg is survived by his wonderful wife of almost 48 years, Debra Diffendal; two children; Lacey (Robert) Hatter and Michael (Emily) Boyd; ten grandchildren; Duncan, David, Ian, Tierra, Simone, Megan, Shawn, Emma, Karen, and Amilya; great-grandchild; Grayson; two siblings; Rodney (Marlane) Diffendal and Kelly (Todd) Huff; and his two favorite fur babies; Dolph and Nico. He was preceded in passing by his parents; Francis and Helen Diffendal; siblings; Darla, Jeff, and Mike; and two nephews; Rodney Jr. and Freeman.

In keeping with family wishes cremation is being conducted.  A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.  Condolences and memories may be expressed to this family at eickhofffuneralhome.com
