Gerald M. Fitzstephens, age 70 of Munfordville, KY died Oct. 6, 2014 at the Hospice House of Southern Kentucky. He was born in Pontiac, MI on Aug. 3, 1944 the son of the late James Edward and Mary Frances (Phelan) Fitzstephens. He graduated from Mendon High School in 1963. Gerald was a retired Staff Sgt. with the U.S. Army and was a member of Our Lady of the Caves Catholic Church in Horse Cave, KY.

Gerald is survived by his wife, Brenda Huff Fitzstephens; two sons, Gerald M. Fitzstephens, Jr. and James E. Fitzstephens both of Munfordville, KY; two daughters, Rhonda ( Mike Lee) Huffman and Mary Jane (Carey) Gardner both of Bowling Green, KY; one sister, Mary Ellen (Charlie) Cook of Marcellus, MI; five grandchildren, Cainon Schroer, Adam Munzinger, Austyn Huffman, Ravynn and Devynn Gardner; two great-grandchildren, Koreena Schroer and Kai Munzinger; mother in law, Laura Huff of Munfordville; brothers in law Larry Schlafke, Royce Huff, Ronnie (Vickie) Huff all of Munfordville; sisters in law Charlotte (David) Sloan of Lexington, KY and Regina Meadows of Munfordville. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Mary Fitzstephens; sister, Theresa Zmudka; and three brothers, Tom, Jim, and Pat Fitzstephens all formerly of Mendon.

Services were held Oct. 10, 2014 in Munfordville followed by burial in the Mt. Olivet Church cemetery. Memorials may be directed to either the Hospice House of Southern Kentucky, or to the Shriners Hospital in Lexington, KY. Condolences may be left for the family at www.eickhofffuneralhome.com
