Obituary

Frederick Devere Fish, age 86 died Wednesday Aug. 17, 2016 at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. Fred was born in Grand Rapids, MI on Oct. 19, 1929 the son of Devere and Mary Louise (Haas) Fish. He graduated from Grand Rapids Union High School and later attended Western Michigan University. Fred served in the U.S. Army in Korea with the 703rd Maintenance Company, earning 2 bronze service stars. Fred was married to Marilyn Joyce Smith on Aug. 6, 1954 in Grand Rapids, and where Fred became a lumber broker. His job required them to live in many areas in Michigan, and eventually the west coast of the United States. Following his retirement and return to Michigan he was a salesman for Centennial Wireless. Fred was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons and the Elks Lodge in Sturgis. He enjoyed fishing, skeet shooting, photography, and spending time with his granddaughters.

Fred is survived by a daughter, Carolyn (Warren) Link of Mendon; a son, Bruce (Angela) Fish of Vancouver, WA; four granddaughters, Megan (Aaron) Eickhoff, Brenna Link, Stephanie Fish, and Kaileigh Page. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marilyn; son, Don Fish; and infant brother, Bruce Fish.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has been conducted. A memorial service will be held at a later date and will be announced by the Eickhoff Funeral Home of Mendon. Until then condolences may be expressed to the family at www.eickhofffuneral home.com
