Obituary

Faye Maxine Hope, age 77 of Mendon, died Thursday April 5, 2012 at Heartland Health Care in Kalamazoo. She was born in Kalamazoo on April 30, 1934 the daughter of James Roy and Harriette Rebecca (Sprout) Brown. She graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School with the class of 1952. She was married to Alvin "Bud" Hope on April 25, 1952 in Kalamazoo.

Faye worked as a meat cutter for Hoekstra Meat Co. for several years. After moving to Mendon she was a volunteer at Mendon Schools assisting with the reading program and was active with the Mendon Athletic Boosters. She also provided day care services from her home. Faye and her family hosted several foreign exchange students over the years. In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting and cooking for her family, church and school events. She also enjoyed bird watching and collecting bird and cow figurines.

Faye is survived by three children, Rebecca (Charles) Fredericks of Kalamazoo, Katherine Hope of Kalamazoo, and Tom (Kim) Hope of Mendon; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Betty Hobson of Lansing, Harriette Bloomfield of Florida, and Pat (Bill) Hough of Parchment; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bud; and a sister, Leah Cowles.

A private interment will be held in Dutton Cemetery. No services are planned at this time. Memorials may be directed to either the American Diabetes Association, or to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
