Emma Yoder, age 97 of Mendon died Monday July 1, 2013 at her home. She was born in Morocco, Indiana on Dec. 23, 1915 the daughter of Menno J. and Amanda (Hochstetler) Anderson. She was married to Jess Hochstetler on Nov. 7, 1937. He died May 10, 1980. Emma married Levi B. Yoder on May 2, 1982. He died May 12, 1989. Emma was a homemaker and a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
She is survived by three step-daughters, Mary Lou Schlabach of Centreville, MI Ida Sue Borkholder of Sturgis, MI and Ruth Ann (Mose) Troyer of Mendon, MI; three sisters, Clara Hochstetler and Tillie (Bob) Shank both of Goshen, IN and Rosa Lohr of Kentland, IN; a brother, Andrew (Marilyn) Anderson of Kouts, IN; many step-grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands; three sisters, Fannie Kaufman, Sarah Harshberger, and Millie Miller; and by two brothers, Henry and Rudolph Anderson.
Visitation will begin Wednesday evening at Emma's home located at 27990 Spring Creek Road, Mendon, MI 49072 and will continue all day on Thursday July 4th. Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. Friday July 5, 2013 at Emma's home with Amish Home Ministry officiating. Burial will take place later Friday afternoon in Miller-Thomas Cemetery near Goshen, IN.
