Douglas Richard Smith, age 80 of Lincolnton, NC passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2022.  He was born on July 19, 1942 in Three Rivers the son of the late Clark and Edith (Skibbe) Smith. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, William Smith and nephew Jeffrey Smith.

Doug was a US Navy veteran, serving during Vietnam. He retired from American Tire where he worked as a corporate facilities manager. He was a NASCAR enthusiast and was involved with the Richard Petty team for a short period. He also served on the Lincoln County Planning Board.

Doug is survived by his wife and Mendon native, Kristene Miller-Smith of Lincolnton, NC; a nephew, Richard Smith of Orange, CA; sister-in-law, Linda Smith of Denver, CO.
