Doris Mae Denney, age 94, passed away at Birch Adult Foster Care in Leonidas, MI on March 26, 2024.  She was born in Wakeshma Township on July 23, 1929 the daughter of Charles Edward and Della Mae (Hubbard) Sweet.  She attended Athens High School and was part of the 1947 graduating class.  On June 8, 1974 she would marry Frederick D. Denney in Fulton, MI and the two of them would move up to Wetmore, MI in 1984.  She worked at Athens High School for 4 years.  Doris began working at Clarks Equipment and retired from that company in 1980 after 30 years of hard work.  She enjoyed hunting and fishing, when she wasn't sewing or crocheting.  Doris was also a member of the Tri-County Fire Auxiliary.

Doris is survived by her step-children; Doug (Deb) Denney of Athens, Rob Denney of Battle Creek, Stacy Denney of Arizona, and Duane (Lori) Denney of Mendon; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Edward and Della Mae Sweet, and baby brother Charles E. Sweet.

A graveside service will be held for Doris on Thursday, April 4, 2024 at 11am in South Fulton Cemetery with Rev. Fred Goebert officiating.  It is suggested that memorials in Doris' name be made out to Elara Caring Hospice.  Memories and condolences may be expressed to the family at eickhofffuneralhome.com
