Beverly Jean Carvalho, age 80, died Friday Aug. 30, 2013 at her home in Oshtemo Township. She was born in Allegan, MI on May 18, 1933 the daughter of James and Nellie (Lockner) Russell. She was married to Joseph Carvalho on April 14, 1951 in Kalamazoo. They resided in Kalamazoo and retired to Kline's Resort near Three Rivers in 1981.

Beverly worked as a seamstress, and had been employed at several area plastics companies. She also offered babysitting and day-care services from her home. She was a member of the Eagles Club and the REACT Radio Club. She especially enjoyed fishing at Portage Lake.

Beverly is survived by a daughter, Suzann Simpson of Kalamazoo; 3 grandchildren, Jason Cole, Christina Carvalho, and Shannan Simpson; 4 great-grandchildren, Trevon Johnson, Azayvion Johnson, Nathan Cole, and Gauge Cole; sister, Nellie Beglopper; brothers, Norman Russell and Lawrence Luce. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joe ; son, Joseph Jr.; daughter, Mary; brothers, Victor Russell, Mitchell Russell, and Donald Luce; and sisters, Loretta Buchino and Nellie Beglopper.

Cremation has been conducted. Graveside services and interment of ashes will take place on Thursday September 12, 2013 at 1:00 pm in Fort Custer National Cemetery with Rev. Trent Hammond officiating.
