Obituary

Ben Schuring, age 67 of Centreville, MI passed away peacefully at his home September 3, 2026, with his loving family by his side. Ben was born in Vicksburg, MI on February 16th, 1959. Ben enjoyed growing up with his rough and tumble brothers, his bond with them was devoted and grew stronger with time. Ben attended Centreville High School and was a proud member of the class of 1977. For many decades, Ben worked in the concrete and tile laying field; When he owned Schuring Concrete. He was a hardworking man who could fix just about anything. There was very little Ben couldn't figure out, and he was always willing to lend a helping hand.

On August 5, 2004 he married the love of his life Cari Mullins in Centreville, MI. Together they built a life filled with love, family, faith, laughter and countless memories. Over the years, Ben was able to grow his family with his wife Cari, as they went on to foster more than 30 children, and adopt four. Some of Ben's happiest moments were the simple ones spent surrounded by his family. He loved family cookouts and bonfires, which gave him an opportunity to showcase his world-famous smoked brisket delivered with his joy filled smile and a joke or two. Ben relished the simple moments in nature while hunting, fishing, and watching the birds.

Ben was a gentle giant, and a devoted family man who loved life to its fullest. He had a way of making everyone feel comfortable with his calm demeanor and kind heart. He always seemed to know the right words when you needed advice even if you didn't agree and was a strong enough man to give an apology when he was wrong. He also had an incredible sense of humor and knew how to be the life of the party. His playful spirit and mischievous personality created stories and memories that his family and friends will treasure for many years to come. Ben passed on those traits to all his children.

Above all else, Ben loved his family beyond measure. He was the absolute best father to all his children, and Papa to his grandchildren. Ben was proud of each and every one of them, and sent many prayers for all of them along the way. His gentle heart, sense of humor, wisdom, faith, and unconditional love touched, and still touches the lives of so many even beyond his family. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him and love him.

Ben is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Cari Schuring; MANY children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and foster children; Journey Schuring, Charleston Schuring, Benjamin Schuring, Elle Schuring, Brianne & Wes Sheperd, Shantell & Matt Rumsey, Sabra and Lance Burrell, Ronda & Ted Mullins Connell, Trinity Johnson, Ne’Stell Johnson, Gage and Hunter Rumsey, Samantha Vargas: (Ashlynn, Miley, Khora, River, Jupiter, Khayne), Roman & Ashley Vargas (Benjamin) Alexzandria Long, Courtney & Arlen Nisley: (Zakk, Liberty, Braxton, Fern), Taylor Luck: (Jace, Harper, Hudson), Nate Loper, Mary; three siblings; Bill Schuring (Shirley), Bob Schuring (Kendra), and Hank Schuring (Pam); and many nieces, nephews, and extended families.
