Arthur Charles
Drewer
Jul 23, 1941 — Feb 13, 2026
Arthur Charles Drewer, Jr. age 84 of Mendon, MI passed away on February 13, 2026 at Ascension Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo, MI after battling a long illness. He was born in Niles, MI on July 23, 1941 the son of Arthur, Sr. and Anna (Galvas) Drewer. Art attended Niles High School and was part of the 1960 graduating class. On September 15, 1963 he would marry Caroline Schram in Niles, MI; Carol passed away in 1993. Two years later, Art would find love again and marry Patsy Ball-Phillips on February 14, 1995 at St. Marks in Paw Paw, MI.
Art was known for his kindness, his interest in people, and treating people with respect. He never met a stranger; striking up conversations with individuals he never met and ending conversations with a new friend. He was very disciplined and sharp minded, traits he learned early on working as a dairy farmer. Art loved agriculture and was even a member of Future Farmers of America. He enjoyed the simple things in life; tending to his flowers and produce in his gardens, watching the birds fly around his apple trees, and woodworking. Art had a soft spot for stray kittens, was stubborn about a certain vegetable, and had eclectic taste for art glass and vintage clowns. He loved his children, his grandchildren, his great-grandchildren, and he will be missed dearly by many.
Art is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Patsy Drewer; his children; Larry (Jody) Drewer, Sheri (Dale) Carpenter, and Timmy Phillips, Sr.; many grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and extended family. He was preceded in passing by his first wife, Carol Drewer; sisters; Eleanore and Virginia; and two sons; Nickie and Gary Phillips.
Funeral services for Art will be held on Wednesday, February 18, 2026 at 11am at the Eickhoff Funeral Home (311 W Main Street, Mendon, MI 49072) with Elder Richard Black officiating. Following the service, burial will take place at Scott-Doane Cemetery in Mendon. It is suggested that donations made in Art's name be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
