Anne Marie Horn, age 83, passed away on October 22, 2026 at her son’s home in Plainwell, MI following a brief illness. She was born in Lansing, MI on October 30, 1942 the daughter of Thomas and Pauline (Gadberry) Jordan. Anne attended Portland High School and was part of the 1960 graduating class. On July 2, 1966 Anne would marry the love of her life, Richard Horn, in Battle Creek, MI and the two of them would share 50 wonderful years together before his passing in 2016.
Anne loved to travel. Driving to Florida, Arizona and California all the while exploring the countryside and finding hidden gems nobody else knew. In her younger years, she enjoyed a trip to Europe, touring everywhere she could. Anne had a love for the arts, painting wonderful masterpieces, painting landscapes, and making angels out of jewelry. She had a childlike adoration for Christmas, a holiday she loved and thrived with, both with decorations and gifts. She looked forward to her Sunday afternoon cookouts with her friends and family, sending cards to everyone she knew (for every occasion), and always held a positive outlook on life. Her strong faith was a foundational part of her life and she had a deep commitment to her church community. Anne volunteered much of her free time to others, working at the free store, and helping at the church. She had a “gift for gab”, which came in handy as an elementary teacher for 40 years.
Anne is survived by her two sons; Greg (Christi) Horn and Keith (Teresea) Horn; three grandchildren; Bella Horn, Brendan Horn, and Will Allen; her dear friend of ten years; Jack Collins; her sister; Linda (David) Luginbill; and many extended families and friends. She was preceded in passing by her parents, Tom and Pauline Jordan; her two sisters, Janet and Christine; and her husband of 50 years, Richard Horn.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation is being conducted. A memorial service will be held for Anne on Tuesday, October 27, 2026 at West Mendon Community Church (22994 Portage Lake Road, Mendon, MI 49072) at 11am, with an hour of visitation prior, with Pastor Troy Peterson officiating. A private burial will take place at a later date. It is suggested that donations made in Anne’s memory be directed to Building Hope Free Store in Centreville, MI.
