Alvin L. Troyer, age 75 years, 2 months, and 9 days, died Saturday, March 10, 2018 at his home. He was born in Hartville, Ohio on Jan. 1, 1943 the son of Levi B. and Magdalena (Schlabach) Troyer. He was married to Elma Bontrager on Oct. 28, 1965, and they have lived in holy matrimony for 52 years. To this union were born 14 children: Magdalena (Lamar) Bontrager of Centreville, Mary (Paul) Bontrager of Centreville, Esther (Neal) Mast of Charlotte, MI, Martha (Henry) Hochstetler of Sturgis, Ruth (Aden) Miller of Fresno, OH, Sarah (James) Detweiler of Sturgis, Miriam (died at age 2), Jonathan (Edna) Troyer of Centreville, Jonas Troyer of Mendon, Lydiann Troyer of Salmon, ID, Henry (Malinda) Troyer of Centreville, Polly (Albert) Hertzler of Burr Oak, Rachel (Reuben) Yoder of St. Ignatius, MT, and Anna Troyer of Salmon, ID; forty one grandchildren; six great grandchildren. Six siblings, Martha (Albert) Hertzler of Salisbury, PA, Noah, deceased (Ella) Troyer of Macomb, IL, Levi (Lizzie Ann) Troyer of Marlette, MI, Catherine, (John) Stutzman of Lakeside Ontario, Henry (Ida) Troyer of Whittemore, MI, and William (Catherine) Troyer of Ontario, Canada. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Miriam, granddaughter, Elizabeth, and brother, Noah.
Family and friends will be received after noon Monday, and all day Tuesday at the Community Youth Center (CYC), 59321 Nottawa Road, Centreville, MI 49032. Funeral services will be 9:30 am Wednesday March 14, 2018 at the CYC with Ivan Chupp, Lee Schmucker, and Oba Borkholder officiating. Burial will follow at the Amish Cemetery on Truckenmiller Road. Assistance was provided by the Eickhoff Funeral Home of Mendon.
