Virginia M. Snyder
(February 28, 1949 - January 8, 2012)

Virginia Margaret “Ginger” Snyder, age 62 of Kalamazoo, died Sunday Jan. 8, 2012 at Rose Arbor Hospice following a long illness. She was born in Three Rivers on Feb. 28, 1949 the daughter of the late Harold and Jeanne (Fallon) Cordes. She graduated from Mendon High School in 1967, received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Michigan, and earned her Master’s Degree from Western Michigan University. Ginger taught for three years in the South Lyon School District in New Hudson. After the birth of her children, she operated a Day Care Center from her home for the next eighteen years. She then reentered the classroom and taught at Loy Norrix High School until her retirement.

Ginger was married to John Snyder on June 11, 1971 in Ann Arbor. He survives along with two children and their spouses, David (Jennifer) Snyder of Orland Park, IL and Katie (Brian) Schoenholz of Lake Saint Louis, MO; four grandchildren, Emmitt and Clare Virginia Snyder and Fritz and Xander Schoenholz; one brother, Rick (Laurel) Cordes of Three Rivers; and several nieces and nephews and in-laws.

Cremation has been conducted. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday Jan. 14, 2012 at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1515 Helen St., Portage, MI 49002 with Pastors Jerry & Janet Duggins officiating. The family will receive friends fro 1 hour prior to services at the church. A private interment of ashes will take place later. Memorials will be directed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan, 222 N. Kalamazoo Mall, Kalamazoo, MI 49007.
